Aarhus is plagued by people pooping on the forest floor – two years after putting up the first “no pooping” signs, not much has changed.
Stay strictly on the beaten path when visiting the beautiful Riis Forest. Feces and toilet paper are common occurrences on the forest floor around the running track.
“It’s probably joggers that are behind it. I have heard that such activities are good for the peristalsis,” says Kim Gulvad, head of City Life in Aarhus Municipality, who has not let the problem take away his good humor adding that he does not talk from experience.
After years of complaints in 2021 the municipality put up signs to deter the ‘poop’etrators. Little did it help. According to Kim Gulvad the problem has not become any smaller.
“We still get reports, and eyewitnesses have even been yelled at. With spring coming we expect it will bring the problem back as always,” he predicts adding that Havreballe Forest suffers from the same problem.
