Multiple projects are cooperating to make construction fences more interesting – as a way of compensating for the disturbance that follows when developing a city.

The idea isn’t new. For years, Technology and Environment of Aarhus Kommune has been allowing local street artists to cover construction fences around Godsbanen in art – simply to make it less boring.
Now, alongside the Festival Week of Aarhus, another fence is now covered with lights by artist André Maia – and portraits of people taken by the Danish Media ‘Jyllands Posten’ or ‘JP’.
Maria Louise Bach, manager of the project, says in an article by JP that it’s important to see the opportunities along construction, instead of seeing it as a wound to the city.
She says they expect to keep the artwork for about half a year, but no decision has been made yet.
