After decades of the pedagogy program being an essential part of children’s education in Denmark. The quality and qualification of it seems to be decreasing.

The Denmark government has added one year onto the finance Act for 2020 which was meant to expire in 2023. It has injected a grant of DKK 47.4 million within that extra year to improve the early childhood educational programs. The government has noted that the educational system needs more educated teachers and educational programs.

Andreas Rasch-Christensen, Head of Research and Development at the VIA University College,  insists that a collaboration between the government and educational departments would also benefit the programs.

He mentions that “building a bridge between the education and the practice” is what is important. The grant will help improve the different aspects however, there’s always room for improvement. Rasch-Christensen believes that the grant can effectively be used but it depends on the different facilities, and universities as to how they use it to create better pedagogue programs.

Compared to other programs the pedagogy program lacks attention hence the need for its improvement. “The pedagogue program lacks political attention hence it is not as prioritised” states Andrea Rasch-Christensen. Meaning that the grant and the anticipated collaboration between educational departments and the government is what will make an effective change.
