Aarhus is a growing city, and figures from Aarhus Municipality show that within the next 12 years the city will round 400,000 inhabitants. In this city expansion process, it is important to take the people of Aarhus into account. However, many feel that the city’s newer structures have been built without regard for the city’s DNA.

The new extension of the harbour annoys student Nanna Halkjær Eibner, who is born and raised in Aarhus. Although it is necessary to develop such a large city, she believes that the waterfront is part of Aarhus’ identity: “One of the main things about Aarhus is that we have such a nice bay and many people are using the water (…) Expanding the harbour down there is quite a shame,” says Nanna Halkjær Eibner.
