Aarhus is hosting its first 2-Tower Cable Wakeboard World Cup from 2nd to 4th September at Aarhus Watersports Complex (AWC) in collaboration with Aarhus Municipality, Sport Event Denmark, Fise, and Hurricane Events.
The Wakeboarding World Cup is one event amongst others at the Urban Sports Festival Aarhus 2022 (USFA) in Denmark which is an international event focusing on both sports and festivities. It takes place for the first time and includes four different sports: skateboarding, parkour, break and wakeboarding.
Around 47 volunteers and 3 full time workers are behind this year’s World Cup event, making sure everything runs smoothly. From controlling the cable, to organizing the heats and arranging the prize money, almost every volunteer is busy accommodating their guests and fulfilling their attendees’ needs.
“We have been preparing for this event for over one year now” says Kenneth Enggaard Christensen, CEO of AWC who is also taking part in the World Cup as one of the riders representing Denmark.
The World Cup is divided into two categories: Open and Amateur; giving beginners the opportunity to be part of the competition and develop their skills amongst other professionals.
A total of 45 international competitors are already registered for the World Cup, amongst them professional Wakeboarder Joe Battleday from England who scored first in the previous international Waterfest competition at Aarhus as well.
“ I just like to kinda do my best and if I do it I can’t be mad” says Battleday after finishing his training for the day in preparation for his heat in the evening.
