If you want to relive the recent time of restrictions, the airport is the place to go. But despite continued carefulness and face masks, the number of passengers are going back up.
Last January, there were only 390 passengers travelling through the airport. Then they closed it until April. This year it was back up to almost 14 000 in January, an increase of 3 483 percent.
“We for sure see that people want to travel,” says Tina Baungaard-Jensen, communicator for Aarhus airport.
Corona has meant a lot of ups and downs for the airport, but it’s also saved them time. The airport is currently being rebuilt, and the work has proceeded faster since there are no passengers to take into consideration.
“Corona has probably sped up the process by 2 years,” says Tina Baungaard-Jensen, and they hope to finish mid-2022, this summer.
Still, it will take time before things are back to how they were before the pandemic.
“A year like 2019, maybe that will be in like 2024,” Tina Baungaard-Jensen says.
