More than half of Danes buy second-hand, and the number is still growing. Thrifting clothes and home decor became a trend in the past few years, mostly but not only, between young people. Aarhus has the youngest population between Danish cities. Thanks to that, vintage stores are almost at every corner in the city.
The costumers and shop owners feel the biggest rise of popularity in the past two years and it’s still growing. Every store has its own approach and style, so that everybody can find what they are looking for and choose the more sustainable way of shopping.
10 % of all greenhouse gas emissions and almost 20 % wastewater are from the fashion industry. From the amount of clothes that is thrown away every year, just 12 % gets recycled. These numbers are a reason why people choose to buy second hand as well.
