As students start their spring semester, subsidized student housing demand is unusually low as students favor private housing.
Studenthosuing Aarhus, administrated by Kollegiekontoret, provides accommodation to Danish and International Students. According to Kollegiekontoret i Aarhus administration manager Diana Jørgensen, demand for subsidized housing has been lower than usual. “In a normal year, we will have 2 or 3 places where we have vacancies, now we have 10 to 20.” she adds.
Diana speculates that the low demand is due to students shifting to private dwellings in the city center. “There has been a huge rise in private dwellings in the last couple of years built to attract students,” she said.
